Hanging Lake near Glenwood Springs, Colorado is a fantastic little lake sitting on the edge of a mountains that seemingly hangs in a gravity defying manner.
The trail head is located only a short distance to the east of the town of Glenwood Springs in the spectacular Glenwood Canyon, through which I-70 snakes a path, hugging the Colorado River.
The trail itself is a short 2.4 miles, but with an elevation gain of 1050 feet you’re going uphill nearly the entire time. When we visited, the trail was covered in ice at the canyon floor but became heavily snow packed as we ascended. The ice and snow added a nice majestic feeling to the already beautiful scenery and made for a nice little cardio jaunt up the trail.
